FreeOriginal 1966 suspension bridge. Toll-free since 2018. Restricted to single carriageway in high winds, fully closed above 60 mph gusts.
From the Severn Crossings linking Wales and England to the Forth Bridges over Scotland's east coast, the UK's bridges keep the country moving.

There are roughly 30 major road bridges of national or regional importance across the UK. A handful still charge tolls — including the Dartford Crossing (technically a bridge and two tunnels), the Mersey Gateway and the Tyne Tunnel — though most historic tolls have now been removed.
High-sided vehicles, motorcycles and trailers are usually the first to be restricted when winds rise. Severn and Humber publish wind closure thresholds publicly; check before travelling in stormy weather.

Severn, Humber, Queensferry and Tamar all close to high-sided vehicles when gusts exceed roughly 50 mph. Check live status before travel.
Most modern tolls accept contactless card. Older crossings (Itchen, Clifton) still accept cash.
Abnormal loads need advance notification to the bridge operator and may require a police escort.
